About Us
The church was originally formed in 1909 as Tenth Street Mission. Later named Oak Street Methodist Church.
In 1937 the congregation moved to 1101 Palm, Abilene Texas changing the name to Fairmont United Methodist Church.
In the early hours of Christmas morning 2004, Fairmont United Methodist Church caught fire and was reduced to ash and cinder.
Dedicated and determined church members chose to not allow Satan to take their church. In August 2006, the church rose again, renamed, relocated and reborn. Southwest Drive United Methodist Church is now located at 3025 Southwest Drive, Abilene Texas. We invite everyone of all ages to join us as we grow together.
